How to reach Ghent

There is a good connection between the Brussels train stations and Ghent, with at least two trains an hour (approx. until midnight). For details and timetables, check www.b-rail.be/main/E/.

If you arrive in Ghent by train, you will be arriving at Ghent Sint Pieters train station. The city center can be easily reached from there: take  a tram or bus to the center, or grab a taxi.

  • In Brussels International Airport (‘Zaventem’), you can take a direct train to Ghent, which takes almost an hour, or you can take a train to the Brussels train stations (North, South or Central) and there catch a direct train to Ghent (approx. 30 min.).
    • ! The biggest train station in Brussels is Brussels South : Brussel Zuid in Dutch- but it’s called Bruxelles Midi in French (we like things complicated)
  • Brussels South/Charleroi  airport (mainly for Ryanair flights) is 70 minutes from Ghent. There are easy connections from the airport to Brussels. From there frequent train connections to Ghent are available. There are also bus connections from the airport to Charleroi-Sud railway station.
    • ! To make things even more complicated: Brussels South Charleroi airport  (which is in the city of Charleroi) is not the same as the Brussels South train station (which is in Brussels).

The conference venue Zebrastraat can be easily reached:
